Beautifully groomed fur coat of the Persian cat, is the subject of legal pride not only of the animal itself, but also of its owner. After all, the long fur of the Persian requires special and regular care, and this is a lot of work. Let's see what your favorite peach needs for complete happiness.

Persian cat fur features

At the cat shows we come to admire the energetic, with shiny fur, beautiful baleen-striped. At the same time, it never occurs to us how much strength, employment and finance goes to the breeder so that their pets look so cheerful and presentable.

Each fur coat species Murok has its own specific care. Bald cats should often be subjected to water procedures, because they sweat the most, with fur of short or medium length, minimally wash and comb. Most of all care and hassle with a long-haired look.

Breed with the longest coat up to 13 cm. - Persian. The magnificence of its fur, has won, and gained popularity. When the animal moves, it shimmers and flickers, fascinating eyes. It is most often demonstrated at exhibitions. The distribution of prizes depends on the grooming of the animal. Service of long-haired cats for demonstration performances is a whole scheme of various procedures. Some people devote their whole life to this profession. This art is "high fashion" for animals. Persian cats have a very long, dense and lightweight fur coat - a good field for the breeder or groomer (a barber for animals).

Since the coat is very airy, it is prone to rolling up tangling. If you do not comply with the correct care, then the animal will be very difficult to put in order, sometimes you even have to completely cut off the hair. Each owner regarding the hygiene of pets, their opinions and practices. Some breeders believe that it is not often necessary to bathe Persian cats - once every six months, and to comb out almost every day. Some prefer to wash and comb their friends often.

Cosmetics and tools for fur care

To care for your pet's coat will need:

combs of metallic materials, with blunt teeth (rare, medium and different lengths),

brush with natural bristles,

hair clippers,

conditioner spray with proteins and for the forcing of residues of the undercoat during the season molt,

cotton towels (2-3 pieces),

shampoo for long-haired cats,

cat grooming powder or talc,

  • hair dryer (with warm air function).

  • Daily fur care for the Persians

In this breed, the hairs of the undercoat and of the caudal hair are very slowly restored after the procedures with the puhoderka. Professionals prefer to use for combing various combs with thicker or less often located, necessarily dull teeth, so as not to scratch the skin of the Persian. There are also special combs, with different lengths of teeth, for combing tangles. Puderochka is combed out only paws and a muzzle. Tools must be made of metal materials, electrified from plastic hair.

Begin to comb with the head, then the back, chest, tummy, legs, but the tail almost does not touch. We use a brush with thick natural bristles to smooth and finish skipping hairs. Finish the procedure by spraying an antistatic spray at a distance of 15–20 cm onto the “hairstyle”. Spray conditioner is used once in seven, ten days.

It is advisable to spray a little citric acid solution on the wool every day - this gives an extraordinary shine. Some owners also apply talc - this prevents hair from tangling.

When the Persians fade, care for the coat is given even more attention. This is the only way your pet will swallow less wool lumps that clog the bowels, and you will prevent excessive contamination of your furniture and carpets.

    Combing sequence:

Head - cheeks, collar (movement to the face),

Thorax - paws direction to the chin,

The back is from tail to withers,

Paws - we start from the rear, holding the paw, combing the "pants" from heels to the tail, combing the armpits under the front paws,

The belly and sides - the direction to the tail,

  • Tail without the need to not comb.

  • In order for a Persian cat to easily perform manipulations with his fur coat - this should be done gradually, from an early age of a kitten. In order not to scare the little one, give him the opportunity to study the tools of care, play with them. During the game you can try to gently comb some parts of the body. Gradually increase the time of such communication. When the animal grows up, accustom to obedience and patience. In the procedure of the game-care, you must be a leader and leader. The process is terminated only at your request, but not your home friend. Over time, the student will get used to the hairdressing procedures, and subsequently all his life will do it with pleasure.

Always feel the skin. If there is any damage, you will be able to detect it in time, identify the problem in a timely manner and, if necessary, start treatment.

Cats love to sit by the water and watch, but rarely swim, which of them dares himself. This is a very neat and clean animals. Ordinary cats are rarely subjected to water procedures, but artificially bred, due to the characteristics of a longer fur, quite often. How, without stress for your pet to solve this problem and help him get used to the water?

It is better to develop the habit of “wet” activities for Persian cats from childhood, during the game. Care for wool will be an urgent need for them. Immerse your favorite kitty toys in a small container with water. Sitting at the improvised "pool" the cub will begin to be amused - he will precisely wet paws. You can unscrew the faucet in the bathroom, the sounds of running trickle of water will attract his attention. Some paws play with running water, sometimes they drink, even playing, wet their heads.

When the baby is a little familiar with water, you can gradually begin to bathe him. Lay in the bathroom or basin, rubber mat, pour a little water. The first swim should be introductory. Peach a little wet feet, with wet hands, stroke the fur. If the first swim, the animal is scared, you should not show excessive perseverance. In the process talk, praise your pet. So your pet will get used to the water.

There are different opinions on the frequency of washing. The best is once in 15–20 days. During the change of coat more often - 7-15 days. So you will help your pet quickly change the old coat to a spectacular new one.

A working male Persian will have to be “cleaned” more often due to the presence of odorous glands under the tail, which emit an unpleasant smell and stain the wool. Before the procedure, baleenbats subject to combing and unraveling koltunov.

The choice of care products is carried out in specialized pet stores. Shampoos and conditioners should be for the long-haired representatives of the feline world. Chemicals, shampoos and soap for people can not be washed - so as not to wash off a special lubricant from the hair.

The water temperature must be optimal - not warm and not too hot, otherwise you will either scald or catch a cat.

Apply the shampoo to the moist wool, well foaming, starting from the back. In the area of the head wash gently to prevent the pouring of moisture in the ears. Ears can be neatly tied or plugged with something soft. Make sure that the tool does not fall into the eyes and nose of a Persian cat.

Next, wrap the wet animal in a cotton towel and blot well. You can change the towel to a dry one and repeat the wipe. Do not do this in ventilated areas - catch a cat. You can dry it with an electric hair dryer. Dried, in the direction of hair growth, pre-combed. So that the animal is not afraid, it is taught gradually, from childhood. Some Persians very well tolerate these manipulations. At the end, apply an antistatic spray.

Since the cat family is very clean, and constantly licking, the intestines are clogged with hair. To prevent this, drugs are given to remove hairballs from the body. It can be a variety of pastes, gels, tablets, treats in the form of pads. You can plant a special weed, which is very fond of representatives of any breed of feline.

Washing after medical procedures to conduct:

    • deworming - one day before taking the drug and immediately after,
    • vaccinations - 14 days after vaccination.

The nuances of grooming Persian cats before the show

In order for the Persian beauties to look like show cats, you need to care for them day after day. The variety includes a wide variety of colors - each has its own approach.

Dark colors unevenly fade in the sun, and light yellow. Prevent negative influence by dusting wool with talcum powder, starch or grooming powder. These colors get dirty faster, so they wash them more often.

Some breeders before the show for 4-5 months completely cut their pets, except for the head, paws and the end of the tail. After such a manipulation, the fur coat grows into a pretty sight.

On the exterior of the Persian breed, it is beautiful that the ears look smaller than the rounded head. To do this, remove the top unnecessarily protruding hairs that grow on the ends of the ears, using various special techniques. Having held the end of the ear between the fingers, the extra brushes of the hair are cut or trimmed.

Persian cat fur coat, before the show, you first need to prepare for washing. The Persians have hairs that are more dense and long in structure than the main ones - the guard ones. To wool looked good, they should be removed. This is done by trimming - pulling out protruding hairs. Before the procedure, the wool is slightly moistened and in a certain way we pull out excess hair.

It is preferable for Persians of light tones to shave off guard hairs. On dark colors, blond hairs spoil the appearance - then they are pulled out with tweezers.

A day or two before the pet exhibition, you must buy it with special shampoos for light or dark wool - depending on the color. In our time, cosmetics for the care of cats are a great many, contacting the pet shop, experts will help you in choosing products.

A few hours before the show, the Persian cat's wool is well and often combed with special preparations so that it lies well and shines, the excess is removed. To hide unnecessary defects in color using clever methods. Light Persians (blue, cream) are treated with liquid or ordinary powders to hide problem areas, red or red - colored. Excess powder particles are removed with a hair dryer or a large brush with stiff natural bristles. The unevenness of dark monotonously colored, or darkened spots of tricolor animals is painted over with color sprays and tonal powders. Complete spray preparation with protein or antistatic sprays.

Persian kittens are also being prepared for shows, but in preparation, there is another specificity, since their fur coat is soft. For young animals, up to eight months, antistatics are used only in extreme cases. Apply spray to your hands, and smooth the coat. A small amount of dry shampoo is applied on the back and tummy - the remains are combed out.

When the "ball" is over, be sure to bathe your handsome Persian to licking yourself, he will not get enough of what you "decorated" with him.

If you learn these lessons, your pet will look irresistible and win prizes. And more information on how to care for cats' hair can be found in this video:

    History of origin

It is believed that this is one of the oldest long-haired breeds, the ancestor of which was a large wild cat, a manul. These two creatures have almost completely lost their resemblance, the Persian cats have become smaller and more graceful, the only thing that has been inherited from their large ancestors is the long wool.

The species we used to call today, like a Persian cat, was bred by American breeders in the 20th century, by the way, it was then that the Persians acquired their main feature - a snub-nosed snub nose.

It is believed that Persian cats first came to Europe thanks to traveler Petro Della Valle, who brought them as a gift to the Pope in the 17th century. A century later, the Persians were in France, and even later - in England, where the British Queen Victoria began to breed them with great pleasure.

It was in England that these animals received their greatest distribution, especially, they were worshiped by special people of noble blood, such beauties were often presented as a gift, as a result of which the Persians always enjoyed increased attention and care from their owners.

    Character and habits

It is not without reason that Persian cats are secretly called regal animals, this fact is very clearly reflected in their standard behavior and character: restrained, intelligent and rather intelligent animals.

Obedient, but only if they engage with them since childhood, they like to sleep and not to move once again, in spite of their muscular and rather strong body. They really teach the basic rules of behavior at home, the Persians are great for living in a residential environment, but also to lie on the lawn with fresh grass, also will not refuse.

Despite their luxurious appearance, the Persians are quite modest and quiet, if they want to ask for something, they will not give a voice (this is extremely rare), but simply sit next to you to draw attention to themselves.

They are very attached to the house and their owners, get along well with dogs and other animals, if you have a parrot, then do not worry, the Persian cat will not hunt him, even if he flies freely outside the cage. Sometimes even these calm and royal personages like to frolic, so do not lose the pleasure of playing with your pet.

    Nutrition and care

One of the distinguishing features of this breed is their long and elegant wool, which can be of different shades and colors: white, cream, red, black, smoky and mixed versions.

If you look at a photo of a Persian, you will almost always see a gorgeous, handsome man with a silky, iridescent and well-groomed fur, as befits a true representative of this breed.

To keep your pet behind, it must be combed out and bathed, and done with enviable regularity using special tools. Persians treat this procedure differently: someone likes to comb, and someone resists and bites at the sight of one brush. To minimize the stress of the animal, teach it to this procedure since childhood.

For a decent look of your pet, you need to comb it every day for 15 minutes: use special brushes with steel, but not sharp, teeth.

If you do not do this procedure regularly, then the cat's wool will quickly come off and begin to curl into mats, which can no longer be combed, and only the cut remains, which is very unpleasant.

How to bathe the Persians: once a month is enough, while using shampoos designed specifically for cats. The procedure itself is simple: in a small basin we carry out several soaping, after each of them we necessarily rinse the fur. The main thing is to ensure that water does not get into the ears and eyes of the animal.

The food of the Persian quadrupeds is not very different from the nutrition of the others, the only thing worth noting: the tendency to overeating, which is why animals often gain excess weight. An adult cat is enough to feed 3 times a day, where the main proportion of the diet should be proteins (about 40%).

She can get them together with lean meat, eggs, cheese, fish (preferably marine). Also in the diet must be present vegetables and cereals, which contain carbohydrates.

If you do not plan the offspring for your pet, then it is better to subject it to the procedure of castration (for cats) or sterilization (for cats). Such simple operations will deprive you of subsequent headaches, and your pet's physiological and psychological problems.

Persian cats are best subjected to such a procedure at the age of 7 to 10 months, during this period the whole process will take place as painlessly as possible.

Castrated and sterilized animals are less aggressive, do not arrange "concerts" at night in search of the second half, they do not mark the territory and, moreover, they have a reduced risk of diseases of the genital organs.

Persians are not bad for education and simple training: from the very childhood a kitten needs to be shown who is the master of the house and learn the words of the ban.

The basic rule of nutrition states that you can not mix different feed, in particular natural and industrial, as well as feed from different manufacturers.

When "store" feeding, the proportion of wet food should be no more than 25% of the diet. The interval between the supply of dry and wet food should be at least 10 hours. When using dry feed, it is especially important that the animal always has access to a bowl of clean water.

Now we will learn how to feed a Persian cat at different periods of its life.

    Adult cat

It is necessary to feed the Persian cat 2-3 times a day.

Natural food by 40–60% should consist of protein (lean meat and curd, unsweetened yogurt), 25–30% from vegetables and 15–20% from cereals. They should not contain spicy condiments and spices, pickles, fatty and sweet foods. A small amount of vegetable oil and vitamin complexes are added to the bowl. In order for the cat to clean the stomach, it must be fed with dietary fibers, such as oats.

Industrial feed for Persian cats are allowed only premium and super premium class.

Sterilized or neutered animals are prone to obesity, so less fat and carbohydrates should get into their bowl. For them, there are specialized feed.

Food for a Persian kitten should be gentle and well crushed: because of the small teeth, it is difficult for him to handle large pieces. Suitable porridge for low-fat milk, lean shredded meat, vegetable puree. Industrial feed should be specialized, especially for babies. A number of manufacturers for each age kitten (monthly) provides a separate type of food.

Until six months, the kittens are fed 6 times a day. Gradually reduce the number of servings, increasing their volume.

    Conditions of detention

These cats feel great when housing maintenance and do not tend to go out. Moreover, due to weak immunity, walks are undesirable for them.

Very attached to the owner, seeking to spend maximum time with him. Sensitive to the mood, as much as they try to console and protect. They are calm and patient, they do not break out of their hands, they usually easily tolerate children's games.

Cats who care for small kittens need special attention, as they can be torn between the desire to spend time with the owner and the maternal instinct.

It is advisable to buy a house for a pet - for cats it is important to have a personal protected space. Please note that in no case can not get a pet out of the house - just call or lure without using force.

A bowl is desirable to purchase ceramic. Less recommended are glass and aluminum. Plastic is harmful - it accumulates dirt and promotes the growth of bacteria. The cat bowl needs to be washed after every meal, especially when using natural and industrial wet foods.

New owners usually have a question, what can be called a Persian cat.

The nickname should reflect the nobility of the breed, but it is easy to pronounce and be melodious. When deciding what to call a cat, pay attention to its appearance or habits.

Kitten's boy can be called Yantar, Tiger, Sultan, Renoir. For a girl fit the names of Perseus, Tutti, Toffee. You can also call the cat Vivienne, Amanda, Louise.

    How to care

Care for the Persians must be thorough: they are very dependent on the person and take care of themselves practically unable to.

Luxurious fur of the Persian cat should be combed every 2-3 days. This is done in three stages: first, superficial combing with a rare comb, then the main comb with a medium comb, and finally smoothing. At the end, you can use a spray and a special antistatic agent.

It is necessary to bathe the Persians once every 2-3 months with a specialized shampoo.

In the summer these cats are recommended haircut, which helps to avoid overheating. It is also useful during shedding, as cutting a Persian is easier than daily cleaning his wool. There are many original options for cutting Persian cats.

Novice owners are usually worried about why Persian cats often have watery eyes. In fact, this is due to the specific structure of the muzzle and with moderate colorless secretions is considered the norm.

Eyes should be wiped daily with a cotton pad moistened with tea, boric acid or boiled water. If the animal has light wool (for example, peach color), it is better not to use tea - it can dye it.

If the lacrimation becomes especially strong or brown discharge from the eyes appears, the animal should be shown to the veterinarian.

The auricle of these cats is very sensitive to mechanical damage, and it should be examined very carefully. When contaminated or an excess of sulfur, the ears are cleaned with a cotton swab. If there is a dark-colored crust in the ear, you need to show the animal to the vet - most likely, you will need treatment for parasites.

In the house there must be a scraper. In addition, the claws should be cut regularly: on the front paws once every 2 weeks, on the back - once a month.

    Diseases and their prevention

Consider the common diseases of Persian cats.

Persians often suffer from diseases such as polycystic kidney disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hip dysplasia, and skin cancer. Due to the specific structure of the face, the eyes may suffer from retinal atrophy.

Normally, Persians often have watery eyes, but if the discharge is white and opaque, it can be a symptom of the flu. If the eyes fester, the cause may be an infection. Excessive tearing is often manifested due to allergies.

If the cat's eyes are heavy with tears, and brown and black mass is emitted from them - these are symptoms of the inflammatory process.

All these diseases should be treated by a specialist.

    General view and size

The body of the Persians is dense and stocky, the legs are short and strong. The head is wide, round and massive. Short, snub-nosed nose with distinct stop (bridge of nose). But the most distinctive feature of the Persians is the thick, long (up to 15 cm) wool, on the neck it forms a magnificent “gate”, and on the hind legs there are “pants”. The tail is straight, fluffy, with a slight rounding at the end.

Persian cat Persians uniquely domestic cats

The appearance of Persian cats as a breed dates back to the 17th century, when the first individuals were brought to Italy from Persia according to one of the versions, and from Angora (Turkey) to the France according to one of the versions. Finally, as a separate breed, the Persian cat became in the XIX century, when British and Persian types were bred in England.

    Breed typification

Classic type - with a relatively long nose, the back of the nose is raised, and the nose is at the same level or 1-2 mm above the lower line of the eyelids. Eyes large, wide open. This type is less susceptible to deformities of the nasal septum and nasolacrimal ducts, which in the “extreme” type leads to discharge from the eyes and difficulty breathing.

Extreme - a small upturned nose like that of a Pekingese is flush with the inner corners of the eyes. Persian cats of this type are also called American because they were originally bred in America.

Persian Cat Care: Basic Persian Cat Care

Care for Persian cats - a topic that everyone seemed to know. However, in fact, this “fame” for the most part consists of delusions, rumors and legends, and for the Persian breed it is a real anti-advertisement. When visitors to cat shows come up to the cages with Persians, these luxurious animals evoke unconditional delight in everyone. And then you hear: “But this is a pile of wool all over the apartment! How much time do you need to spend on caring for such a cat ?! ”

In this article I want to share some "secrets", the knowledge of which will help all fans of long-haired cats to get rid of false fears and allow themselves to quietly "go on about" their desires - to be happy owners of beautiful and healthy Persian cats. I will make a reservation right away - it will be about caring for the “homemade” Persians. For cat owners of the show class, my recommendations can only be useful as basic knowledge, since exhibition grooming is a topic for a separate conversation. The preparation of the Persian cat for the exhibition is very specific, depends largely on colors (there are a great many of them in the Persian breed), and experience and professional approach are needed to achieve good results. But most of the Persian kittens are destined to the fate of "pets". The owners of such Persians are intended to give the advice that you will find on this page of our site (they are also absolutely acceptable for the care of exotics). And do not be afraid of the seemingly large amount of the proposed information. In fact, all our advice is pretty easy. And believe me - the results of your efforts will not disappoint you.

What to comb? How to comb?

The deepest misconception (intensively supported by incompetent sellers of pet products) is combing the Persians with a “puhoderka”. In no case!! “Slicker” (or correctly - slicker, sleeker) is very selectively and limitedly used by professional groomers only for the exhibition preparation of wool on the face and legs of the Persians. The main tool of the persytnik is a steel comb with long, not sharp teeth. If you are unable to find a Jimpet comb, the teeth of which are located in two frequency variants (or a professional “No. 1 All System” company comb), buy two combs: with long and thick + with long and rare teeth. Do not save too much and look for such combs in the Bird market. It is better to buy them in a good pet store, because this purchase is for the whole life of your cat. To the comb described above, you can add another one - with teeth of different lengths (to combat random tangles).

It is necessary to accustom a cat to the procedure of combing as early as possible, gradually, gently, but aggressively. It is very useful to combine training with the game, so that this procedure is perceived by the kitten as part of a pleasant experience. Put the cat on your lap on your back. Gently and gently comb the wool first on the neck, then between the front paws, in the armpits, on the stomach and on the hind legs. Combing wool must first against, and then in the direction of its growth. Then, putting the cat on its paws, comb the hair on its back and tail. Such a procedure requires frequent (daily) repetition only during the training period of the kitten. Try not to overload your pet with the “science”, but do not indulge his desire to terminate the procedure spontaneously. If you have not completed combing, let the cat know that she can leave just as you wish. The consistency and tolerance at the initial stage will allow you, over time, to turn combing into a rather pleasant process for both you and the cat. And besides, you will always know the condition of your pet's skin and will be able to respond in time to possible diseases or detect an accidental wound. And if you follow my next tip, then you will need to comb your character no more than once every 2-3 days, and this procedure will take no more than 5 minutes. So, go to the "water procedures".

To be honest, keeping wool clean is the cornerstone of “science” about grooming Persian cats. An experienced breeder knows that, bathing a Persian once every 2-3 weeks, he may not particularly worry about combing. Especially useful for swimming during seasonal molting. This is the only way to quickly rid the cat of dead hair and stimulate the growth of a new beautiful and healthy hair.

The optimal frequency of bathing - once every 3-4 weeks. If you are the owner of an adult cat, it will have to be bathed more often, since the secretions of the sebaceous gland, located at the base of the tail, not only pollute the tail, but also do not smell too good.

Before bathing wool must be thoroughly combed. If ticks were formed, be sure to disassemble them with your hands or with a comb with teeth of different lengths.

The choice of shampoo for swimming, of course, is important and not at all difficult. You can use normal “human” shampoos for normal hair with a neutral pH (do not use “2 in 1” or “3 in 1” marks) or a good baby shampoo. But it is better to use special shampoos for animals (not counter-obstructive! There is nothing better to combat skin parasites than “Advantage” from Bayer or “Frontlaine” from Merial). There is also a choice: expensive professional cosmetics by well-known American companies (“Ring 5”, “Biogroom”, “No. 1 All System”, “Cardinal”) or domestic products (Lux brand shampoos for longhair cats proved best). The relative high cost of professional cosmetics is offset by its high quality and cost-effectiveness in use (as a rule, these are concentrated products in a ratio of 1: 4, one 400-gram bottle of such shampoo will last you for a year for 1-2 cats).

The biggest secret in bathing is thorough rinsing after each soaping (which can be 2-3 depending on the degree of contamination of the cat). The usual rinsing in the shower will not be enough - for bathing it is very convenient to use a deep basin or a baby bath. Well soaked hair with water, apply a small amount of shampoo on the back and stomach of a cat, rub it into wool. On a small sponge, apply a little more shampoo, whip it into the foam and with this foam sponge gently rub the wool in the direction of growth (especially carefully wash the muzzle to avoid water getting into the ears). The cat should be standing in the basin. After adding water (not too hot, but not cool, as the cat's normal body temperature is 38 0 C) wash part of the shampoo from the cat's body and use soapy water again to treat its fur. It is necessary to rinse the cat until the shampoo is completely washed out after each soaping. Putting it in the basin, wash off the shampoo with a shower, at the same time filling the basin with water. Wash the cat's hair with the same water and waves. There should be at least 3 such rinses between each soap. Last water is useful to acidify a little, adding a little vinegar or lemon juice.

REMEMBER! Having badly rinsed the cat's hair, after bathing you risk finding it in a much more untidy state than before the start of the “water procedures”!

After bathing, wrap the cat in a towel and gently blot the wool, try to remove as much moisture as possible.

To accustom a cat to bathing is not as difficult as it seems. The main thing is not to frighten her at the very beginning. Talk to the cat, in a quiet and calm voice, help her relieve tension, feel your care. Some difficulties may be caused by the next stage - blow-drying. Here you may need “four hands” and even greater tolerance at the training stage. If you turn on the hair dryer in the presence of a kitten before the first swim, the sound of this “terrible” device will gradually stop irritating it, and the first “Rubicon” will be overcome in this way. In due course bathing will be perceived by your cat if not as pleasure, then, at least, as quite tolerable duty.

Before drying, wet cat hair must be gently combed, MANDATORY in the direction of hair growth. During drying, it is also desirable to comb the wool, achieving complete drying. Considering that even after thorough drying, a certain percentage of moisture is stored in the abundant undercoat of the Persian cat, try to keep the cat in a warm room devoid of drafts for 8-10 hours after bathing.

I would like to give one more tip. If you use it, your Persian's wool will always be shiny, fluffy and healthy. Now there are special antistatic agents for long-haired animals (the best are from the “Biogroom” and “No. 1 All System” firms). These tools help to relieve static stress from the fur of cats. And how many statics in our apartments (especially during the heating season), it is not necessary to tell. Women with long thin hair probably experienced negative feelings from electrified hairstyle. The same happens with the thick, thin and light hair of the Persians, which, under the influence of statics, not only “sticks” to the body, but also intensively rolls into mats. To overcome these troubles antistatics help. Spraying this tool with a light cloud from a distance of 15-20 cm to the cat's hair before combing, you will incredibly make this procedure easier for yourself and the cat and you will never see tangles (even if you do not brush it too often).

With the “problem” of caring for the Persians, we, I hope, understood. But do not forget that the eyes and ears of the cat also need to be cared for.

As for ear care, a general recommendation for owners of all cats (not only Persian) would be a weekly tip with a soft cotton swab moistened with warm boiled water (hydrogen peroxide or a special agent for cosmetic care of animal ears) to gently wipe the inside of the ear and ear. . Make sure that the tampon is carefully squeezed out and excessive moisture does not penetrate into the ear canal.

If a secret has accumulated in the corners of the eyes, soak a napkin in boiled water with a few drops of eucalyptus tincture added (at the rate of 3-4 drops per half glass of water). And, of course, if you wish, in pet stores you will be able to purchase special tools for cosmetic care of cats' eyes.

I can give you another tip. If you have good scissors with rounded tips (not manicure!) From time to time you trim the long hair around the edge of the cat's upper eyelid, eye care will become much easier. Act carefully, and you will succeed. Well, if you're scared - it doesn't matter, you can do without such a haircut.

However, there is another type of "haircut", which I want to recommend to owners of all cats. This haircut is a familiar procedure for participants of cat shows, but in the “ordinary” life it is perceived by people very skeptically. And in vain! It's about claws cutting.

Believe me, if you regularly (on your front paws - once every 2 weeks, on your hind legs - once a month) will trim your cat's claws, you will save not only the skin of your hands and feet, but also upholstered furniture, carpets, tights and t etc., etc. For such a procedure, you will need a special “clipper” of a small size, which is very easy to obtain at any pet store. Put the cat on your lap, on your back. Gently press down on the footpad so that the cat spreads its fingers and releases its claws. Holding the cat's finger with one hand, cut the sharp end of the claw, a few millimeters to reach the blood vessel located inside the claw (it is visible to the light even in cats of dark colors). All this is absolutely not difficult and does not require seeking help from a veterinarian.

In order to achieve optimal results, your pet should be trained to all procedures for looking after its appearance immediately after it has appeared in your home. Of course, if you are lucky and you have bought an already grown-up kitten (after 3-4 months) from a good nursery, you will have much less worries, since all the basic habits of the person are already bred by the breeder. Although some time to establish "personal contacts" you still have to spend.

I told you about the basic methods of caring for a Persian cat. I would like to once again draw your attention to the fact that the abundance of words spent on the description of all procedures is absolutely not identical to the amount of time required to complete them:

ü bathing with drying takes no more than 1.5 hours (once every 3-4 weeks),

    • combing - 5-10 minutes (every 2-3 days),
    • ear care - 5 minutes (once a week),
    • eye care - very fast, but daily,
    • nail clipping - 5-10 minutes.

Tell me, is this a “terrible” time that everyone who wants, but is afraid to have a Persian, think about being busy? Well, I hope you don’t remember about the fears of “drowning” in wool after reading this article.

And finally, another tip. Perhaps this is the most important of all of the above: the most important condition for beauty, health and longevity of the Persian cat is proper feeding. If you choose ready-made professional category feeds (Royal Canin, Hill’s, Eagle Pack, Jams, 1 st Choice, Acana), then you will provide your pet with the only correct, complete and balanced diet. And after all, the beauty of her coat, well-being and long happy life in company with her beloved master depend on the general health of the cat.

I hope that my advice will bring some benefit and if you have not settled Persian cat, then at the next exhibition of the Open Championship of Ukraine you will make your choice. Because there is no cat, more beautiful and distinctive than the Persian - a representative of the oldest breed of breed, the owner of a unique appearance, remarkably beautiful wool and stunning character of a true companion for the city dweller, tired of noisy streets and office fuss.

And do not think of me as biased, but join us, become a “peasant horse” - and you will not regret it!

0 C) wash part of the shampoo from the cat's body and use soapy water again to treat its fur. It is necessary to rinse the cat until the shampoo is completely washed out after each soaping. Putting it in a basin, shower rinse the shampoo, while filling the basin with water.

The main thing is not to scare her at the very beginning.

The shortened facial part and the deep stop of the Persians cause additional pressure on the lacrimal canals and a certain increase in tearing. In the absence of infectious diseases, such “tears” are transparent with a slight brownish tinge. You can get rid of excessive moisture in the eyes of the Persian by soaking them with an ordinary soft cosmetic napkin. Do it daily, repeat the procedure several times a day (if you have time) - and you will not need any additional funds. If a secret has accumulated in the corners of the eyes, soak a napkin in boiled water with a few drops of eucalyptus tincture added (at the rate of 3-4 drops per half glass of water). Combing

For cats of the Persian breed, “Pokhoderka” is absolutely not suitable.

    Ideal combs for Persians:

    • Branded comb from Jimpet.
    • Branded hairbrush from All System.

The teeth on them are placed in two versions of the frequency.

It so happens that not always an expensive comb, this is exactly what your cat needs. There is an alternative! Make a choice in favor of a thick comb (+ long teeth), and a comb whose teeth are rare but long.

The process of combing a cat is a painstaking occupation, but vital for a fluffy Persian. From an early age, try to gradually introduce fluffy to his constant "toy", a faithful lifelong friend - a comb.

    • You can try to put the cat near your belly up, holding it.
    • Start by brushing the hair around your neck.
    • Next, gently walk under the arms and between the front legs.
    • Already at the end, comb the stomach, hind legs and back.

Bathe Persian cats once a month, and twice during the molt period.

Before bathing pay attention wool fluffy. Comb a couple of times along the length of hair (pay special attention to lumps, if any) In this case, suitable comb with teeth of different lengths.

    • Good baby shampoo,
    • Shampoos for animals (there are special for Persians),
    • Flea shampoo.

    • To begin with, wash the coat with water, abundantly, without shampoo.
    • Then apply the shampoo on the back, churn well and carefully move to the face, covering the cat's eyes.
    • After, thoroughly wash off all the foam.
    • The procedure must be repeated depending on the degree of contamination of the wool.
    • When washing the water should not get into the ears of a cat.
    • Complete the process of bathing by drying the wool. To do this, take a thick, large towel and wrap the cat, soaking all the wool to completely remove moisture.
    • Before drying your Persian's wet hair, you need to gently comb it over the hair growth. Carry out this procedure in a warm room, without drafts.

Take care of the ears of your furry pet every day. To do this, use a clean cosmetic tissue and boiled water. You can also use hydrogen peroxide, or buy a special pharmaceutical solution for the care of cats' ears.

Persian cats have a specific eye shape. Take a cotton pad and gently wipe the cat's eyes. If you have time, do it every day, and not once. Alternatively, you can prepare an eye wash solution:

    • Boiled water 100 g
    • Tincture of eucalyptus 3-4 drops

    • To get to the claws of the cat, gently press the footpad and hold tight.
    • It should be cut only at the sharp tip of the claw, without touching the blood vessels.

This kind of care for a Persian cat is quite simple, easily done at home.

Proper nutrition will help preserve the health and beauty of the Persian. Dilute the cat's food (feed) with all the necessary vitamins and minerals: dry food with microelements and vitamins, lean meat, boiled vegetables, water, dairy products, mineral supplements (as recommended by the veterinarian).
